Charakterystyka wybranych toksyn syntetyzowanych przez sinice północno-zachodniego wybrzeża Spitsbergenu
W regionach polarnych sinice stanowią istotny składnik zbiorowisk roślinnych. Reprezentują one główną grupę producentów pierwotnych w słodkowodnych i lądowych ekosystemach Arktyki i Antarktydy. Tworzą one rozległe maty będące mikrosiedliskiem dla innych organizmów. W obszarach umiarkowanych i tropik...

Otrzymane informacje potwierdzają także wyższą średnią produkcję obu analizowanych rodzajów toksyn w materiale rozhodowanym w temperaturze 22oC ± 1oC: 3,538 µgg-1 DW (MC) i 0,240 µgg-1 DW (ANTX-a). W związku z tym pojawia się hipoteza, że postępujące ocieplenie klimatu może stymulować wzrost syntezy toksyn sinicowych. In the polar regions cyanobacteria are an important component of plant communities. They represent the main group of primary producers in terrestrial and freshwater Arctic and Antarctic ecosystems. They commonly form extensive microbial mats provide microhabitats for other organisms. In temperate and tropical areas cyanobacteria are a source of toxic secondary metabolites. The results of this study clearly demonstrated that cyanobacteria inhabiting the north-west coast of Spitsbergen are also able to synthesize the toxins, especially MC and ANTX-a. Mean values of their concentrations were equal: 2,149 µgg-1 DW (MC) and 0,127 µgg-1 DW (ANTX-a). Moreover, ANTX-a was detected for the first time in Arctic mats. The obtained information confirmed also the higher average production of both analized toxins in polar mats cultivated at 22oC ± 1oC: 3,538 µgg-1 DW (MC) and 0,240 µgg-1 DW (ANTX-a). Therefore, there is a hypothesis that the progressive climate warming may stimulate an increase in the synthesis of cyanobacterial toxins.
