They exist still just in remembrance: the last known Nenets shamans are long dead and the repressions in the 1930s have contributed to their demise. This article is based on the songs we collected in our fieldwork by different Forest Nenets. We analyse them and we reflect on the place of fly agaric in these songs - both as enhancing shamanic transe and as the shaman's helping spirit.
