Download for free Nordland County Council pursues a proactive public health policy. In March 2013, the Council introduced a ‘Health Account’ – an important element in the county’s information drives targeting people on an individual basis. Ahead of the launch – in November and December 2012 – a survey was conducted of a representative sample of the population to determine attitudes towards and knowledge of the relationship between lifestyle and health. The survey included questions on diet, physical activity, well-being and tobacco/snus (low nitrosamine smokeless tobacco, Swedish type). Two years after this first survey a new one was conducted using many of the same questions. The purpose of obtaining responses at two different points in time is primarily to see if it is possible to detect any effect of the County Council’s extensive information campaign concerning the link between health and lifestyle. The report explores the following questions: − Have the public’s knowledge, behaviour and attitudes changed in the period 2012-2014? − Do the changes differ according to segment of the population? − Can any of these changes in the knowledge, behaviour and attitudes of the public and particular groups be attributed to the County Council’s campaign?
