Summary:Yupiit living along the Bering Sea coast south of the mouth of the Yukon River regularly engaged in violent conflict with more northern riverine Yupiit prior to the 1840s AD arrival of Russian explorers and traders. The conflict is known as the Bow and Arrow War Days, and outside Alaska few people are aware of it. Local oral histories tell of the war, and archaeological and historical sources provide complementary details. This article documents war events and techniques for war for one specific area: the Triangle in Yup'ik Alaska.
