This presentation will assess the state of the Commission today with recent updates to it statutes and specifically with a look toward future activities. One of our primary targets for the future is to be more inclusive. This includes widening membership across a wider range of countries and engaging early career scientists. Elements include a balance in the commissions’ science endorsement and sessions at biennial meetings across topics centered on the Arctic, the Antarctic, and the Third Pole of the Himalayan Mountains. Support for young scientists and students will be a cornerstone for the ICPM moving forward, along with recognition of early and mid-career efforts of polar meteorologists. These opportunities are in various stages of development, and there are or will be challenges along the way.
