Pope, George (Copy) Morris Island July 31, 1863 My dear afflicted Captin and Most Obedient kind sir, it really dose aford me the greatest Pleasure to Embrace this Present Opportunity of Adresing you with this few lines though dim'I wish its Impress to be indelible in sincerity. I am well. I hope these few lines to find you and your torturing Wounds to be on a Rapid Mend. On our Dangerous Ebents I missed you your loss I do lament & do honestly hope and Wish you present at the earliest Oppurtunity'I have the pleasure to inform You that I am your humble servant in Position of Orderly Sargant of Our Onerable Co. I by the wishes of Lieut Higginson'I hope it is agreeable to your wishes. We sufer much from Your Absents hoping to see Your Friendly Presents soon again.
