La question décoloniale est d’abord traitée par l’étude du personnage principal en rapport avec les concepts d’agentivité, d’autonomisation (empowerment), d’identité plurielle et du mythe de la « disparition des Indiens » (vanishing Indian). Ensuite, l’auteure souligne que l’œuvre, en déplaçant le genre cinématographique du film de guerre, met en lumière l’accroissement des mesures coloniales dans l’Inuit Nunangat et les violences faites aux femmes autochtones. Enfin, l’auteure se concentre, dans la dernière partie de son article, sur la décolonisation des représentations cinématographiques des agressions sexuelles par la création d’un regard féminin (female gaze) inuit. The author investigates the decolonial representation of an Inuk’s experience in the movie Restless River (by Marie-Hélène Cousineau et Madeline Ivalu, 2019). The decolonial perspective is initially examined through the study of the main character in relation to the concepts of agentivity, empowerment, plural identity, and the myth of the Vanishing Indian. Then, the author emphasizes that the movie, by deviating the genre of the war film, highlights the colonial measures in the Inuit Nunangat and the violence against indigenous women. Finally, the article focuses on the decolonization of the cinematic depictions of sexual assault by the creation of an Inuit female gaze. La autora plantea la representación decolonial de la experiencia de una Inuk en el largometraje La rivière sans repos (por Marie-Hélène Cousineau y Madeline Ivalu, 2019).
