The coverage was developed from field surveys conducted on the Dennys River in Maine by staff of the Atlantic Salmon Authority and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. This survey was conducted to identify important Atlantic salmon habitat including spawning and rearing areas. The survey was conducted using Trimble Pro and Pro-XL receivers and survey files were differentially corrected to provide 2-5 meter accuracy. Surveys for Cathance Stream were conducted in 1986 and the attributes were overlayed onto a line created from a GPS centerline. The coverage includes information on habitat categories, composition, length, width and depth measurements, canopy and other vegetation variables and an indication of spawning and rearing potential.
