This video titled, Elon Experiences: Study Abroad, was a produced marketing piece for Elon’s Study Abroad program in 1999. This was a program where Elon students took their education on the road. London Bridge in London, England was in seen in the video. As of 1999, Elon students have studied on every continent, except Antarctica. When a student studies abroad, a student was to explore a culture or many cultures for hands-on learning. A video shot of Big Ben in London, England was seen in the video. The Elon Study Abroad program was nationally recognized in 1999. Unknown named Elon students spoke about their experiences studying abroad. Elon students studying abroad were seen in this video. Chambers Brumbaugh was leading Elon students in Costa Rica. Sylvia Munoz was teaching. Smith Jackson on a two tier London bus in London, England was shown. Elon Study Abroad began three decades ago and the program in 1999 has grown very quickly. The Elon Study Abroad program participation has jumped from 20 to 40 percent. According to the The Chronicle, Elon ranks fifth in the nation among master degree institutions. There were semester long study abroad programs at Elon, as well as, Winter Term. Elon in the future will continue to concentrate on Study Abroad programs in line with the student’s academic course work. Elon was expanding their Study Abroad programs where English was not the primary language. Viewpoints from Elon students on their study abroad experiences were expressed in this video.
