Summary:The long-term goals of this research project are to develop and use methods to collect passive acoustic data that will improve our understanding of ecology and behavior of minke whales (Balaenoptera acutorostrata) in their presumed breeding habitats around the Hawaiian Islands and other subtropical Pacific areas. Ultimately, the new information and methods resulting from this project will provide new research methods and a better understanding of biology of minke whales so that more effective management and conservation practices can be implemented.
