The purpose of the investigations was to inventory and document archeological remains that are situated within the survey area. Geo-Marine, Inc., (GMI) conducted the survey under contract with the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District. The project resulted in the location of 48 prehistoric sites, one historic site, and 582 isolated artifacts. Two major site types that appear to represent task-specific functions were recognized in the project area. The characteristics of the sites and the implications on prehistoric land use are discussed and treatment recommendations are suggested. Of the 49 sites located, four sites are considered eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP), 12 sites are ineligible, and 33 sites are considered potentially eligible for inclusion in the NRHP.
