The uppermost 12m of the least compacted portion of the core was immediately sampled and analyzed in the field: the remainder was analyzed in the National Ice Core Laboratory in Colorado. We here report on the retrieval, sampling, and analytical methods and provided complete profiles of nitrate concentration and liquid electrical conductivity from the 1992 surface through the year 1577 at a depth of 122 meters. The data series included a total of more than 7776 individual samples that have been analyzed simultaneously for both nitrate concentration and electrical conductivity. jg Original contains color plates: All DTIC and NTIS reproductions will be in black and white.
