The Alaska coastline extends over 40,000 miles and is constantly impacted by waves that vary widely with time and position. The ability to monitor and ultimately predict these wave conditions is of vital concern to coastal communities, offshore industries, and State and Federal agencies. An index of available wave data was compiled to aid in planning future data collection efforts. The index is presented in tables providing information on the location, schedule, and type of data collected and a point of contact for additional inquiry. All gaged sites are plotted on a series of maps by index number. Coastal areas covered included the Beaufort Sea, Bering Sea, Chukchi Sea, and Gulf of Alaska.
