Description
Summary:This report details a study of sea ice processes and ambient noise variations from data sets collected during the Arctic Ice Dynamics Joint Experiment (AIDJEX) in 1975 and 1976. The data, which come from buoys drifting with the ice for over one year in the Beaufort Sea, consist of ambient noise, position, atmospheric temperature and pressure, etc. and a number of other parameters. This volume includes technical papers on: Calculation of an Effective Ice Thickness Term for Pack Ice Using Lagrangian Data; Seasonal Variability of the Principle Modes of Ice Movement in the Beaufort Sea; Arctic Ambient Noise in the Beaufort Sea and Its Relationship to Sea Ice Kinematics. Also included are a number of appendices that present most of the ice and atmospheric data used in this study in graphical format. Keywords: Correlation; Sea ice processes; Deformation; Convergence; Sea ice translation; Thermal cracking. See also Part 3, Section 1 and 2, AD-A165 304.
