A series of tests of the 'Advanced Development Model' (ADM) thermal ice drill were conducted at the U.S. Army Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory during August 1982, as part of the Arctic ADOM (Air Deployed Oceanographic Mooring) project. The drill is part of an autonomous system intended to facilitate the collection of data in inaccessible regions of the Arctic. This report describes the drilling concept, test procedures, results, and conclusions.
