More than 120 projects comprise our research program, which covers a broad range of oceanographic investigations and has annual expenditures in excess of eight million dollars. These investigations range from individual research projects to multidisciplinary and/or multiuniversity projects, such as the Deep Ocean Mining Environmental Study (DOMES), the first GARP Global Experiment (FGGE), the First International Biomass Experiment (FIBEX), the Global Atlantic Tropical Experiment (GATE), the International Program of Ocean Drilling (IPOD) supported by the Deep Sea Drilling Project (DSDP), the International Southern Ocean Studies (ISOS), the Manganese Nodule Program (MANOP), the Outer Continental Shelf Environmental Assessment Program (OCSEAP), the Joint U.S.-U.S.S.R.
