Summary:A series of physiological trials was conducted in the DREO cold chamber to compare the durability, comfort and thermal protection offered by the standard Canadian Forces duffel sock and an experimental duffel sock worn with the Arctic mukluk. No significant differences in levels of foot perspiration or foot temperature were observed. However, since the correct sizes were not available, none of the test subjects could be fitted properly with the experimental duffel sock and varying degrees of foot discomfort were experienced.
