The modified headgear was found to provide complete protection against frostbite and to prevent spectacle frosting under extreme wind-chill conditions. Under milder conditions or during physical activity, the headgear was found to be too warm and spectacle frosting occurred. The modifications made to the headgear are discussed with respect to their effect on its performance. Recommendations are made for further modifications to correct problems encountered during the tests.
