Summary: | In the construction of an earth bed in regions where permafrost ground occurs, one finds instances of the thawing of the frozen base under the fills of slight height as a result of changes in the heat exchange condition (disruptions of vegetative cover, conditions of evaporation, insolation, condensation, albedo of surface) and also as a result of the effect exerted by the surface and ground water. Under such conditions, for finding the amount of settling of the fills during the planning of an earth bed, it is necessary to calculate the thawing depth of the permafrost base or even to determine the height of fill at which the permafrost ground does not thaw.
