Freezing index maps were prepared for Sweden showing the distribution of mean freezing index and maximum freezing index during the 1901-1950 period. The maps are based on data from 273 weather stations. Methods of approximating mean values for the 50-year period for stations with incomplete observation records are discussed. The distribution of the magnitude of freezing index is given in percent of occurrence for all stations with complete observation record and a method is presented for using the mean map to predict the distribution of freezing index at any specific location.
