Column Strength Spectra Measured during Three Cruises in the North Atlantic and Mediterranean.

Volume reverberation measurements were made at 85 stations in three cruises in the North Atlantic and Mediterranean. Broadband measurements were made using 1/2-lb. blocks of TNT as sound sourves, and the data were analyzed using 1/3-octave filters in the range 1.0 to 31.5 kHz to give column strength...

Description
Summary:Volume reverberation measurements were made at 85 stations in three cruises in the North Atlantic and Mediterranean. Broadband measurements were made using 1/2-lb. blocks of TNT as sound sourves, and the data were analyzed using 1/3-octave filters in the range 1.0 to 31.5 kHz to give column strength values. There are plots of the column strength spectra and maps of the station positions. Tables give spectral values for each station, as well as position, date, water depth, and environmental information. There is a short discussion of how the spectra were determined as well as possible ways to interpret spectra once they are measured. (Modified author abstract)
