The author made a study of encounters with toothed whales along the Swedish coast. Only two species, the harbor porpoise (Phocaena phocaena) and the long-finned dolphin (Lagenorhynchus albirostris), are indigenous to the area. Other toothed whales are encountered much less frequently and only at irregular intervals. An extensive list of toothed whale finds made in Sweden is given, except for the two indigenous species.
