Four specific topics were considered: (1) reflection coefficients at an isotropic-anisotropic boundary, (2) surface wave propagation in the presence of a strong velocity gradient, (3) conversion between body wave types upon total internal reflection, that is at the turning point of a refracted arrival, and (4) the continuous bodily conversion of P waves into shear waves in the course of propagation through a strong velocity gradient.
