Summary: | The region of the Spitsbergen archipelago, composed mainly of Caledonides, is situated immediately adjacent to the underwater mountain system of the mid-ocean ridge, including the Knipovich Ridge on the west and the Gakkel' Ridge on the north, and also the Spitsbergen Fracture Zone which separates these ridges. Based on an analysis of echo sounding and published data, the main morphological features of the sea floor in the region of Vest Spitsbergen are described in this paper.
