Trigonometric Leveling and Gravimetric Survey in the Antarctic (Trigonometricheskoe Nivelirovanie i Gravimetricheskie Issledovaniya v Antarktike)

The report gives an account of results of methods for the determination of heights, by which gravimetric measurements in Antarctica are chiefly determined. The errors in the determination of heights by the barometric method can reach a considerable value (plus or minus 30 m). A high accuracy of dete...

Some results are explained of the interpretation of gravimetric observations, carried out on the Second and Sixth Soviet Antarctic Expeditions. A classification is given of the physical-geographic characteristics determining the conditions under which the astrogeodetic and gravimetric measurements were conducted.
