Summary:An experiment was conducted in Hudson Bay during August 1970 to obtain propagation and reverberation data below 12kHz. A listening hydeophone was suspended from an Amphibian stationed 90 miles east of Cape Churchill. Explosive charges were dropped from an aircraft along a 270-mile track to Coats Island. Additional charges were detonated close to hydrophone to obtain the reverberation data. BT information from along the propagation track indicated a sound channel with an axial depth of 80 feet over a flat hard bottom at an average depth of 425 feet. Propagation loss curves were obtained for 1/3-octave bands from 300 to 5000 Hz and reverberation levels for 1-octave bands from 200 to 12,800 Hz. (Author)
