Summary: | Observations of the vertical variation of wind speed in near-neutral stratifications show an increase of the roughness parameter z sub 0 from about 0.00005 to 0.001 m when the wind speed at the 5 m level decreases from 6 - 7 m/sec to 2 - 3 m/sec. The increase of z sub 0 is suggested to be related to the flow conditions at the rear of the snow dunes. Snow dunes were characteristic features of the surface relief in the observation area.
