Description
Summary:The investigations carried out during the 10th cruise of 'Mikhail Lomonosov' in the equatorial region of the Atlantic Ocean are summarized. The investigations deal with currents, wind, internal waves, temperature, salinity, circulation and advection of heat, which were measured by 158 drifting and 17 anchored buoy stations. For current measurements 22 BPV automatic current recorders (Alekseyev) and other instruments measuring the water circulation in surface and deep layers were used. Among the achievements are mentioned the disclosure of the existence of deep currents in the equatorial region of the Atlantic Ocean. Several graphs and tables illustrate some of the data of current velocity and direction measurements. Also methods used in lowering and lifting instruments are briefly discussed.
