Summary: | The report briefly describes the various types of electrical ground temperature measuring equipment, which have been employed in the Permafrost Investigation from inception of the program in 1945 to the present time, and discusses the characteristics and uses of each type. Special emphasis and greater detail included for those types which are considered best adapted for use by Highway Departments in the northern tier of states for research purposes in connection with road restrictions during the spring breakup. Photographs, diagrams, and specifications are presented to illustrate and describe various details of the equipment discussed.
