Deflections were measured under static and moving loads on a continuous ice sheet and adjacent to a free edge. Representative samples of the ice were tested in unconfined compression, direct shear, flexure, and under a dynamic load (steady-state vibration). Crystal size and orientation were measured. An analysis of test results is presented using linear elastic theory and a method is proposed for estimating time variations of deflection.
