Summary: | The five volume atlas was prepared to provide environmental information of significance in detecting underground nuclear tests. The information is intended to be useful in selecting areas where nuclear tests could be conducted, in analyzing seismic signals, and in preliminary planning of on-site inspections. Volume I, Terrain and Tectonic Regions provides for each region a discussion of landforms, drainage, vegetation, soils, climate, and cultural features. Information is also given on hypsometry and the areal limits of permafrost. (Author) |
