The hydrological regime of the Arctic Ocean is to a notable extent decided by the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean currents, and also by the river runoff. All these contribute waters of different physical and chemical characteristics to the Arctic Ocean. Therefore the quantitative calculation of water and heat balance-sheets for each of these sources is a matter of great scientific and practical interest, and is discussed in the report.
