Summary: | The problems encountered by railroad men in their struggle against glaciers along the 23rd section of the railroad right of way of the Eastern Siberian Railway are discussed. Methods for reducing the hazardous effects of glaciers on railroad beds and for eliminating the glaciers themselves through proper drainage techniques are suggested. Experience over the last ten years has shown that the construction of small bridges and culverts in dry climatic areas often results in the appearance of new glaciers.
