BUBBLES AND BUBBLE PRESSURE IN ANTARCTIC GLACER ICE.
An exceptional opportunity to study changes in the pressure, distribution and structure of bubbles as a function of depth in the Antarctic ice sheet arose during the IGY (1957-58) when ice cores were obtained to depths of 308 m and 254 m at Byrd Station and Little America 5 respectively. To investigate the pattern of changes in the size, shape, number and distribution of air bubbles as a function of depth in the Antarctic ice sheet.
