Summary:This report covers experimental fabrication, improvement, and testing of a series of 16' wide expandable lightweight shelters. Sixteen shelters were fabricated under the contract. The design, fabrication, and early testing of shelters No. 1 and No. 2 were covered in detail in Volume 1 of this final report. In order of their manufacture, design modifications production, and test programs of the successive shelters are discussed. These tests include tropical environment tests, Arctic environment tests, desert environment tests, cold weather environment tests, and operational suitability and climatic laboratory tests. Supplementing the main body of the report in a group of appendices consisting of the actual reports received from three of the test areas. (Author)
