Summary: | Oceanographic observations in the Arctic Ocean and Greenland Sea were carried out at Drift Station ARLIS-II between February 1964 and May 1965. Items of observations were: temperature, chlorinity(salinity), dissolved oxygen, silicate(si), phosphate(p), ice drift, subsurface ocean currents, and plankton sampling. In toto, 357 oceanographic stations were taken, among which stations 53 vertical profiles of salinity and chemical elements were obtained. Discussions are given on the physical and chemical condition of the central Arctic Ocean. Measurements of ice drift, utilizing the ARLIS II drift meter, were carried out between February and May 1965 in the East Greenland Sea. About 200 surface drift vectors were obtained. Supplemental data were collected on subsurface ocean stet currents measured with an Ekman-Merz and a Kelvin-Hughes current meter. Results of phytoplankton and zooplankton studies were described. All data are presented in the appendices. (Author) |
