Description
Summary:A biographical self-description blank was among the experimental selection tools planned for possible use in assigning men to duty in the Arctic. In a previous study, a large number of descriptive phrases relating to ability to adjust to conditions of Arctic assignment had been developed. These phrases were to be paired and the men instructed to check in each pair the phrase most nearly describing themselves. Conclusions: As a result of this pairing, it is expected that the ability of men to 'beat' the test will be minimized and the significance of their choices between the phrases maximized. Although the validities of the phrases before they were paired has been measured, further study is necessary to determine the validities of the items in paired form.
