An Arctic service test of 30-inch general purpose searchlight and generator for 30-inch general purpose searchlight was made to determine their suitability for artillery use under arctic winter conditions. It is concluded that: (a) Sufficient testing was not conducted to determine their suitability for artillery use under Arctic winter conditions; and (b) The discrepancies, and as many of the shortcomings as practicable should be corrected. When the discrepancies and shortcomings have been accomplished, a modified 30-inch general purpose searchlight and generator for 30-inch searchlight be provided this Board for test. (Author)
