This area is typical of the northern foothills of the Brooks Range, with continuous permafrost, no trees, a complete snow cover for 7 to 9 months, winter ice cover on lakes, streams, and ocean, and cessation of river flow during the winter. Tussock tundra vegetation of sedges and grasses mixed with dwarf birch and low willows form the dominant vegetation type with areas of drier heath tundra on ridge tops and other well-drained sites as well as areas of river-bottom willow communities. 149.60407W W 149.60407W E 68.63293N N 68.63293N S 149.55255W W 149.55255W E 68.62655N N 68.62655N S 149.45532W W 149.45532W E 68.64260N N 68.64260N S 149.43767W W 149.43767W E 68.64286N N 68.64286N S 149.08980W W 149.08980W E 68.67984N N 68.67984N S 149.07244W W 149.07244W E 68.68010N N 68.68010N S 149.58527W W 149.58527W E 68.56908N N 68.56908N S 149.56308W W 149.56308W E 68.57168N N 68.57168N S 149.58084W W 149.58084W E 68.57589N N 68.57589N S 149.58126W W 149.58126W E 68.57993N N 68.57993N S 149.58682W W 149.58682W E 68.58775N N 68.58775N S 149.58831W W 149.58831W E 68.59627N N 68.59627N S 149.62155W W 149.62155W E 68.58075N N 68.58075N S 149.59378W W 149.59378W E 68.60123N N 68.60123N S 149.57942W W 149.57942W E 68.61052N N 68.61052N S 149.60064W W 149.60064W E 68.61096N N 68.61096N S 149.60416W W 149.60416W E 68.64025N N 68.64025N S 149.62228W W 149.62228W E 68.64130N N 68.64130N S 149.59933W W 149.59933W E 68.65239N N 68.65239N S 149.65070W W 149.65070W E 68.62998N N 68.62998N S 149.64168W W 149.64168W E 68.62924N N 68.62924N S 149.64163W W 149.64163W E 68.63042N N 68.63042N S 149.23461W W 149.23461W E 68.53735N N 68.53735N S 149.56348W W 149.56348W E 68.55669N N 68.55669N S -149.75 W -149.0433 E 68.8 N 68.5 S 2005-05-12 to 2005-08-28 |
