| Summary: | イラクのユダヤ人コミュニティは、長い歴史と伝統を誇るコミュニティとして知られていたが、1950年代初頭の時点でその大部分がイスラエルへと移民してしまう。本論文で扱うイスラエル人作家サミー・ミハエルも、イラクからイスラエルにたどり着いたユダヤ人の一人である。彼の作品では、イラクでかつてユダヤ人が営んでいた生活、イラクからイスラエルへやって来た移民が直面した葛藤、イスラエル社会のマイノリティなどが扱われている。その独自の主題設定やイスラエルの諸問題に対して積極的な発言をする姿勢によって、ミハエルは現代イスラエル文学において最もよく知られた作家の一人となった。本論文では、まずイラクのユダヤ人がイスラエルへ集団で移民するまでの経緯を概観する。そして、そうした時代を生きたミハエルの体験が色濃く反映された作品における、イラクからの移民やイスラエル社会の周縁部に位置する人々の描写を考察する。また最後にこれまでイラク系ユダヤ人を歴史学や社会学の視点から考察する際の副次的資料として扱われがちであったミハエルの作品が持ち込みうる新たな視点の可能性についても触れたい。 The Jewish Community of Iraq was one of the oldest among the Jewish Diaspora and was historically significant. In the beginning of the 1950s, however, the majority of the Jews of Iraq (more than 120,000) immigrated to Israel due to an increasing anti-Jewish sentiment in Iraqi society. Sami Michael (1926- ), an Iraqi Jewish intellectual who is a well-known writer and influential public figure in contemporary Israel, also found refuge in Israel in the same period. In this paper I will first trace major historical events that occurred during the first half of the 20th century in Iraq, particularly the pogrom "Farhūd" carried out against Jews in Baghdad, in order to grasp the motifs portrayed in Michael's works. Secondly, I will shed light on the voices of his characters who are marginalized from society, and analyze how Michael describes both Iraq and Israel. Attempts have been made to research Iraqi Jews from various scholarly approaches such as history, sociology, and political science, but the literary works of Iraqi Jewish writers, one of whom is Michael, have been treated only as secondary sources. In the conclusion I will suggest the possibility of an alternative approach to Michael's works from a literary point of view. application/pdf departmental bulletin paper
