These national poets began their creation using Russian because it has a more developed structure, a longer literary tradition and more potentialities and resources for realizing their creative ideas as well. Gradually they turned on their national mother tongue in their creation being aware of their national identity and sensing their duty for their nation and ancestors to reserve and develop their national culture. While creating original work and using more than one language national authors and poets expected to feel good national mother tongue, to know culture and traditions of their nation. For them the Russian language itself is a certain point of departure, which on national poets and authors have opportunity to lean in order to achieve artistic skills. Whatever language they use – Russian or their national mother tongue – they write about their native land, native nation, about keeping national culture and language, about native nature, their love for all of the above which they learned at their mothers′ knees. To keep and increase great riches of their native land, culture and language, to hand this treasure over to the next generation – they are typical themes of bilingual creation of national Karelian poets.
