Summary: | We present the observations of the artificial ionospheric modification experiment of EISCAT on 18 October 2012 in Tromsø, Norway. When the pump of alternating O mode and X mode is switched on, the UHF radar observation shows some strong enhancements in electron density, ion lines and plasma lines. Based on some existing theories, we find the following: First, during the experiment, the frequency of plasma line ( <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><semantics><mrow><msub><mi>f</mi><mi>L</mi></msub></mrow></semantics></math> ), ion line ( <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><semantics><mrow><msub><mi>f</mi><mrow><mi>i</mi><mi>a</mi></mrow></msub></mrow></semantics></math> ) and pump ( <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><semantics><mrow><msub><mi>f</mi><mi>h</mi></msub></mrow></semantics></math> ) matches <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><semantics><mrow><msub><mi>f</mi><mi>L</mi></msub></mrow></semantics></math> = <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><semantics><mrow><msub><mi>f</mi><mi>h</mi></msub></mrow></semantics></math> − 3 <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><semantics><mrow><msub><mi>f</mi><mrow><mi>i</mi><mi>a</mi></mrow></msub></mrow></semantics></math> and = <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" ... |
