Based on key indexes that measured the quality of democracy level of development freedom of speech, level of development information and communication technologies, determined that within the analyzed region leaders are five countries – Iceland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland. Brought, that a prominent role in the formation of modern and effective information policy played governments surveyed countries in the early 1990s adopted a concept of building information society and egovernment. Is noted crucial feature of information policy in the region – namely distinct social orientation. Another important factor for quality implementation of information policy and building an information society was the presence of a national consensus of the main political actors and citizens about priority development of information and communication technologies. A result of research features implementation of information policy in the Nordic countries it is possible to identify common characteristics of all the countries: access to information; create a national information potential; use of information resources in the national interest; create a common health information; promote international cooperation in the field of communication and information; warranty information sovereignty of the state; development of information infrastructure; development of egovernment; enhance information literacy; use of ICT in all spheres of society – the economy, education, medicine and so on.
