Description
Summary:The article presents the results of studying of materials from the burials of the Eneolithic – Bronze Age in the White Sea basin and adjacent regions. An analysis of received data made it possible to identify for the first time changes in the composition of the burial goods and the spatial structure of the burial grounds of ancient hunters and fishermen who lived in the White Sea region in the IV – II millennium BC. The results of the study make it possible to judge the local and chronological features of the burial rite of the ancient population in the region, the directions and nature of its relationship and can serve as the basis for reconstructing the worldview of prehistoric people. The chronology of the burial grounds has been established mainly by identifying analogies in the burial goods and settlement complexes, dated on the basis of radiocarbon data and analysis of the altitudinal location of archaeological sites above sea level (Western White Sea region and Kola Peninsula). The author also publishes materials from five burial complexes, studied in the southwestern part of the White Sea basin.
