Description
Summary:Object and purpose of research. This paper studies ships, oil & gas platforms and other structures operating in cold regions. The purpose is to generalize the experience of ensuring their reliability and develop calculation methods for limit and fatigue strength of Arctic marine structures based on the analysis of recent Krylov State Research Centre studies. Materials and methods. The study follows common methods of fracture mechanics, as well as finite-element analysis. Main results. Development of new failure criteria and calculation methods for welded steel structures operating at low temperature. Conclusion. The results of this work are intended to develop cost-efficient, strong and reliable oil & gas platforms for the Arctic.
