Description
Summary:To research food production in space applications, the EDEN ISS greenhouse is in operation in Antarctica since 2017. Several malfunctions of the subsystems have been identified. This thesis will focus on the redesign of the Condensate Water Recovery Subsystem (CWRS) of EDEN ISS based on these lessons learned. The CWRS controls the humidity in the greenhouse by recollecting water from the air, processing it and feeding it back into the water cycle. The redesigned version of the CWRS will be integrated in an updated version of EDEN ISS. Depending on the work progress, possibilities for porting the system to low/microgravity shall be evaluated.
