Lista de aves de la Isla del Coco de Costa Rica (1990-2020), y caracterización de su avifauna (2020).

I present the bird list of Isla del Coco updated to November 2020. Originally, the list was published as an annex in the Cocos Island Management Plan in 1990. Here, I update the list with new records and information and characterize the avifauna based on its biogeographic origin and ecological characteristics. The avifauna of Isla del Coco is composed of 156 species, 35 families, and 93 genera. Of these, 64 species are terrestrial (41%), 52 are coastal (33.3%), and 40 are marine (25.5%). Fourteen (14) species are residents (8.9%) and 142 are visitors (91%); of the latter, 114 are of Nearctic origin (73%), 16 are from the Eastern Pacific (10.3%), 14 are Pantropical (9%), 7 are Neotropical (4.5%), 3 are Endemic (1.9%), one comes from Antarctica (0.6%), and one is domestic (0.6%). I include photographs of 36 emblematic species representing the diverse biogeographic, ecological, and historical conditions that characterize the structure of the avifauna. The maintenance of the list, its updating and characterization represent the basis for the planning, evaluation, and implementation of new research on the birds of Isla del Coco. Presento la lista de Aves de la Isla del Coco actualizada a noviembre 2020. Originalmente la lista se publicó como un anexo en el Plan de Manejo de la Isla del Coco en 1990. Aquí actualizo la lista con nuevos registros e información, y caracterizo la avifauna con base en su origen biogeográfico y características ecológicas. La avifauna de la Isla del Coco está compuesta por 156 especies, 35 familias, y 93 géneros. De estas, 64 especies son terrestres (41%), 52 costeras (33.3%), y 40 marinas (25.5%). Catorce (14) especies son residentes (8.9%) y 142 son visitantes (91%); de estas últimas, 114 son de origen Neártico (73%), 16 son del Pacifico Oriental (10.3%), 14 son Pantropicales (9%), 7 son Neotropicales (4.5%), 3 son Endémicas (1.9%), una proviene de la Antártida (0.6%), y una es doméstica (0.6%).
