De nuevo sobre la cronología de la necrópolis tardoantigua rupestre de Tiermes (Montejo de Tiermes, Soria)

Tiermes´s cemetery rock chronology has raised many doubts since it had been discovered. After the burials systematization by Alberto del Castillo, it was classified into the Dark Ages. This classifi cation was the most common at that time. But at the end of the twentieth century diff erent studies had been given a new methodological and interpretation ways. These studies open the possibility to date the cemetery before Dark Ages. However, we can use the same arguments to determinate diff erent dates. Sometimes the importance of the trousseaus had been forgotten in an intentional way. Nowadays we have enough information to give a more exact date to the cemetery. Many of these arguments have been published (Gutiérrez Dohijo, 1998). Other arguments are the result of studying again the exhumed remains founded between 1981 and 1982. These studies allow us to formulate a date of use of the cemetery during Late Antiquity. La cronología del cementerio rupestre de Tiermes ha suscitado dudas desde su descubrimiento. Tras la sistematización de los conjuntos funerarios rupestres por Alberto del Castillo fue clasificada dentro de la Alta Edad Media, aspecto acorde con el sustento ideológico imperante del momento. Pero a fi nales del siglo XX, diferentes estudios abrieron nuevos caminos, tanto de interpretación como metodológicos, abriendo la posibilidad de que fuese más antigua. A pesar de ello los mismos argumentos se utilizan para determinar fechas distintas. Otras veces se olvidaba �intencionalmente- la importancia de los ajuares detectados, Ahora reunimos los datos suficientes para concretar aún más la datación de esta necrópolis. Algunos argumentos ya fueron expuestos con anterioridad (Gutiérrez Dohijo,1998). Otros son nuevos, principalmente, al reestudiar los restos exhumados en su excavación durante los años 1981 y 1982; y contextualizarlos con recientes descubrimientos. Ello permite reafirmar una fecha de uso del cementerio durante la Antigüedad Tardía.
