Description
Summary:The waders' community of a representative zone of the typical rocky coast in the western Canary Islands is studied during an annual cycle. There are four wintering species: Charadrius hiaricula, Sumenius phaeopus, Acriris hypoleucos and Arenaria interpres, dominating the last two. The higuest values of abundance and richness have been obtained in the postnuptial migration (September-November). On the other hand, in a regional context is important the wintering population of A. hypoleucos. It is concluded that the community studied by us is very similar to those characteristics of the Mediterranean and North Africa.
