Surveys done in the provinces of Adana, Antalya, Gaziantep, Hatay, İçel and K.Maraş in 1990 and 1991 showed that Cuntheris vole (Microtus guentheri D.A) was dominating rodent species and the subspecies of M.guentheri shevketi Neuhaser was common in the region. Since the natural enemies of these species such as fox, snake, wild birds are lacking, specially in plain area, field mice may cause epidemies in mentioned area. It was determined that lemon rats (Rattus rattus frugivorus Raf.) exist in neglected yards in the provinces of Adana, Hatay and İçel and are locally harmful. Ground squirrels (Citellus citellus L.) were found only in K.Maraş (Elbistan) at 1340 meters and locally harmful at fields near their permanent nests. Forest mice (Apodemus mystacimus D.A. and A.sylvaticus L.) were found either in plane or transmission zones together field mice and determined to be harmful ever with low population rates. Lesser mole rats (Spalax leucodon Nord.) were found in pastures and dry areas but believed harmless to the plantations although observed locally almost in every part of the region. 1990-1991 Yıllarında Adana, Antalya, Gaziantep, Hatay, İçel ve Kahra-manmaraş illerinde yürütülen çalışmalar sonucunda, Tarla faresi (Microtus guentheri D.A. - Muridae)'nin bölgenin hakim kemirici türü olduğu ve bölgede bu türün, (Microtus guentheri shevketi Neuhaser) alt türünün bulunduğu tespit edilmiştir. Özellikle ova kesimlerde bu zararlıyı baskı altında tutan doğal düşmanlarının (tilki, yılan, alıcı kuşlar gibi) büyük ölçüde etkinliğini yitirmiş olmaları nedeniyle tarla farelerinin söz konusu alanlarda her an için salgınlara yol açabileceği belirlenmiştir. Limon sıçanı (Rattus rattus frugivorus R.f. - Muridae)'nın İçel, Adana ve Hatay'da genellikle bakımsız bahçelerde bulunduğu ve lokal olarak zararlı olduğu belirlenmiştir. Tarla sincabı(Citellus citellus L.-Sciuridae) bölgede yalnızca Kahramanmaraş (Elbistan)'ta, 1340 m rakımda tespit edilmiş ve daimi yuvalar yakınında bulunan tarlalarda zararlı olduğu belirlenmiştir. Orman fareleri(Apodemus mystacinus D.A ve A.sylvaticus L.-Muridae)'nin gerek ova kesimde gerekse geçit bölgelerinde tarla fareleri ile karışık halde bulunduğu, düşük yoğunlukta da olsa zarara ortak oldukları tespit edilmiştir. Körfare (Spalax leucodon Nodrm-Spalacidae), Bölgenin bütün kesim-lerinde, yer yer oldukça yoğun bir şekilde gözlenmesine rağmen, daha çok mera ve step alanlarda tespit edilmiş olup kültür alanları için ciddi bir tehdit durumunda değildir. Küçük avurtlak (Cricetulus sp.-Muridae), Arap tavşanı (Allactago sp.-Dipodidae) ve Ağaç sincabı (Sciurus vulgaris L. - Sciuridae), bölgede düşük yoğunlukta tespit edilen diğer kemirici türleridir.
